This guided tour will lead you to Mdina- Malta’s Old Capital, Rabat & St. Paul’s Bay. Join us in the footsteps of Saint Paul in Malta & The Early Christian Era
Tour Description
Rabat
During this guided tour, you will first visit Rabat, which is in the southern part of Malta. St. Paul’s Grotto, where the Apostle Paul lived for three months. A walk through the narrow, winding streets of Rabat would give a taste of the early medieval architecture.
Mdina
You will then visit St. Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina, which is next to Rabat, where you can enjoy the splendour of the artistic works inside the temple and follow the history of the role of St. Publius as the first bishop ordained by Apostle Paul. The history of Mdina, Malta’s Old Capital City, and its suburb Rabat is as old and as chequered as the history of Malta itself.
St. Paul’s Bay
Finally, the bus will drive you to St. Paul’s Bay where the shipwreck occurred in 60 AD. An interesting walk on the garrigue will bring you closer to the historical events in the early Christian era after the apostle Paul.
In the year 60 AD a big storm hit the Maltese Islands, which brought a galley with 47 persons aboard in one of the beautiful bays of Malta. Among the crew, there was the Apostle Paul known as Saulus from Tarcus.
Accompanying the apostle Paul was Luke, a medical doctor by profession and proficient in writing. Saint Paul healed many locals, including Publius’ father, later also baptizing him in the town of Melita.
